Lost Boy Scouts Trailer
DANNY: welcome to the preview of the last Boy Scouts podcasts. We're your hosts. I'm Danny Ocaña
TYLER: And I'm Tyler Clark. We're excited for you to listen to our first episode. Danny, why don't we go ahead and introduce ourselves to our listeners? Go ahead and tell us a little bit about yourself.
DANNY: I'm Danny Ocaña. I'm a father of two boys, both amazing humans. They are considered men in our society because they're over 18. But in reality, they are young men who still need their dad. I'm also a husband. I've been with my wife, Misty for going on 26 years now since high school. We've been married for almost 20 years and going strong. My hobbies. I love jujitsu. And that's that's kind of what I've known for right now. I love being in the jujitsu community, I love being a part of it. I'm dabbling in coaching with other men. And I'm trying to find my next stage of life. I have been an air traffic controller for 20-plus years, it's the only job I know. And now I'm close to retirement, which is going to afford me an opportunity to become something new. And I don't know what that is. And right now, it's exciting and scary at the same time. So that's a little bit about me, Tyler, give us some information about yourself.
TYLER: Well, Danny, I'm a corporate refugee. I'm a divorced father of three who's gone through my own faith crisis, as well as my own rebirth. And during this rebirth process, I found coaching both as a coach II or somebody being coached. And as a coach. I'm a member of the international coaching federation. I'm also an affiliate member of the Harvard Institute coaching
DANNY: sounds important.
TYLER: Let's tell our listeners what they can expect from our podcast
DANNY: we've talked about these ideas. Over the last few months, we've been talking about sharing our own stories, sharing our thoughts, why we're here what we want to encourage for people to listen to, and why are you listening to our podcast. But in reality, the last boy scouts is actually a play on words, correct?
TYLER: Yeah. When I conceptualized the idea, it really came from my own personal journey, right? The rites from boyhood to manhood. They've all dried up, no rite of passage, right? There's no walkabout so you have lost boys, boys that are getting lost in the jungle, they're being thrown out into this world, and social media is raised. It's also a little bit of a play on the word and the fact that boy scouts are kind of nerdy, and they're always getting lost,
DANNY: they get all those badges, and they still get lost, they'll get lost. Are you an actual Boy Scout, because I wasn't so scouting.
TYLER: For me, it was a way my single mother, as well as my former religion, would was able to provide me with a common unity, or community, if you will,
DANNY: Right. And so we have these play, words of Lost Boys Lost Boy Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and all we're trying to do is share our stories, share some insight, share what we do to help each other to help our own children.
TYLER: You know, I think I remember reading a statistic somewhere that said, Boys raised by single mothers, have a higher rate of mental health and behavioral issues. And I was certainly that kid, that kid that was in the principal's office more than he should. And, unfortunately, they're more likely to commit a crime.
DANNY: I was that kid, I committed crimes I was. I tell people all the time, this version of Danny, you probably would not have wanted to hang out with the old version, the young version, the kid that was lost because I also was raised by a single mom, we feel this podcast is for those who need reassurance, those who need fellowship, guidance and encouragement. And when you're in times of need, or during times of triumph, even we are going to be your allies, we're gonna be your biggest fans. And we may also call you out on some things that you need to fix, because that's what we do for each other. Right? When you're when you're when you're excited. I'm excited when you need me to be like, Hey, where are you at? But that's, that's what my job is.
TYLER: Yeah, so the heart spirit, and soul of our show is really about building a community a common unity.
DANNY: Thank you for listening to our trailer. And we hope you'll join us for a pilot episode. Lost, we're premiering that on March 17, which actually happens to be St. Patrick's Day, St. Patrick's Day.
